Dr Umar Saif, Pakistan’s Minister for Information Technology, has unveiled an ambitious roadmap for the country’s burgeoning tech sector Starlink.
Among the standout announcements is the green light for the launch of Starlink services in Pakistan, courtesy of Elon Musk’s SpaceX. Starlink’s mission is to provide high-speed, globally accessible internet.
Dr. Saif has also articulated a series of key objectives for his ministry, aimed at fostering growth and innovation. These include streamlining funding processes, addressing taxation challenges, nurturing a skilled IT workforce, facilitating the integration of global payment platforms like PayPal and Stripe, establishing collaborative workspaces, attracting international investors, and gearing up for a 5G spectrum auction.
These far-reaching plans have ignited enthusiasm within Pakistan’s tech community. However, realizing these aspirations will demand meticulous planning, dedication, and concerted efforts, given their substantial scale and complexity.
Elon Musk, the owner of the social media platform formerly known as Twitter (now called “X”), has announced that the platform will soon introduce video and audio calling features.
These features will be available on iOS, Android, Mac, and PC without requiring a phone number.

Musk envisions X as a global address book. Additionally, X’s payment branch, Twitter Payments LLC, recently obtained a currency transmitter license in Rhode Island, allowing it to engage in cryptocurrency-related activities such as exchanges and wallets.
Musk has been making significant changes to X since acquiring it in October, shifting toward a subscription-based model amid declining advertising revenues and controversial content moderation decisions, including the rebranding of Twitter as X.
