Aun Chaudhry, ex-PR of Imran Khan, the Additional Secretary of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), clarified his position yesterday that his meeting with PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif was conducted ‘in a personal capacity.’
This clarification of Aun Chaudhry followed the release of a video by Geo News showing Chaudhry meeting with Nawaz Sharif and former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar at the Allama Iqbal International Airport just before Nawaz’s departure to Minar-e-Pakistan.
Chaudhry emphasized that there are human relationships beyond politics and mentioned his previous role in Shehbaz Sharif’s cabinet, which lasted for one and a half years. He informed Geo News about having communicated his position to the IPP leadership.
This development occurred after the Jahangir Khan Tareen-led IPP distanced itself from the airport meeting and decided to issue a show-cause notice regarding the incident.

Aun Chaudhry, who had previously been an aide to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, had aligned himself with Tareen and resigned from his position as a special adviser to the Punjab chief minister in August 2021 when asked to clarify his stance on supporting Tareen or the party, amid differences between Imran Khan and Tareen related to a high-profile sugar scam.
Nawaz Sharif briefly landed in Islamabad, where he filed appeals against the convictions that led to his imprisonment before departing the country in 2019. After a brief stay, Nawaz traveled to Lahore to initiate his party’s campaign for the upcoming year’s election in a rally attended by thousands of supporters.
Addressing the large crowd, the PML-N leader expressed his lack of intent for political vengeance against his opponents and called on all constitutional institutions to collaborate for the country’s development.
