The Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association has announced a nationwide petrol pump strike on July 5 to protest the government’s new 0.5% advance tax.
Chairman Abdul Sami Khan cautioned that the tax, coupled with slim profit margins and soaring inflation, would severely impact their business.
Despite discussions with the Finance Minister, no satisfactory solutions were proposed.
Khan called on the government to repeal the tax within four days to prevent the strike, highlighting the severe consequences and potential fallout if their demands on petrol tax are not addressed.
He emphasized that operating petrol pumps at a loss is unsustainable.
