Petrol and Diesel prices in Pakistan are expected fall by another Rs10/liter on September 15 marking the fourth consecutive decrease in prices.
Media reports have stated that global prices for gasoline and diesel have decreased by around $5 per barrel in the last two weeks. With the current exchange rate and tax rates, there could be a decrease of Rs10 to Rs11 per liter.
Nevertheless, rumours have it that the government might increase the petroleum levy from the current Rs3 per liter to Rs5 per liter to fill a reported FBR revenue gap of a hundred billion rupees for the first two months of the present fiscal year.
On implementation of this levy increase, the consumer also expects the price drop to be scaled down to Rs5 to Rs6 per litre.
The last effective change in the fuel prices will be compelled by the decision of the federal government on the petroleum levy as well the final computations on the exchange rates alongside the tax rates.
