The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has begun its search for a new head for the women’s cricket team, with Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Syeda Shehrbano emerging as a strong candidate for the position. According to media reports, the former Deputy Commissioner of Lahore, ASP Shehar Bano, is under serious consideration for this important role within PCB.
ASP Shehrbano was highly active in her role during PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi’s tenure as interim Chief Minister of Punjab. She gained public recognition in February 2023 when she rescued a woman wearing attire with Arabic calligraphy from an aggressive mob in Lahore’s Ichhra Bazaar, highlighting her bravery and dedication to public service.
This position has been vacant since Tania Malik’s resignation, who had taken on the role of head of women’s cricket at PCB in October 2021. Now, PCB is preparing for new leadership for the Pakistan women’s cricket team, and Shehar Bano is seen as a highly promising choice.
