Considering the dangerous situation of smog in Punjab, especially Lahore, the United Arab Emirates has offered help to the government to deal with smog. The UAE has offered technical assistance to Pakistan to help reduce the harmful effects of smog. This offer was extended by the UAE’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Al Zaabi, during an interview with Daily Jang and The News.
Ambassador Al Zaabi expressed concern over the widespread smog in Pakistan, especially in Punjab, and reminded that in the past, his government had assisted Pakistan in addressing this issue. During the tenure of the caretaker government, the UAE had sent special planes that conducted cloud seeding, leading to artificial rainfall in some areas. This helped reduce the smog’s intensity, providing temporary relief to the affected regions.
Ambassador Al Zaabi commended the Pakistani authorities for their efforts and expressed his confidence in their measures to mitigate the smog situation. He added that the UAE remains in close contact with Pakistan’s government and expressed hope that additional steps would be taken to address the smog problem effectively.
