Pakistani students International Olympiad medals brought pride to the nation as a team of four talented students won bronze medals at the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) 2025. The global competition took place in Bolivia from July 27 to August 3.
The students—Muhammad Aneeq, Ghulam Junaid, Muhammad Saram, and Ahmed Imran Malik—each earned a bronze medal. Among 86 participating nations, Pakistan ranked 32nd, surpassing several advanced countries including Germany, France, and Italy.
Last year, Pakistan secured only two bronze medals and stood 46th overall. This year’s success marks a big improvement in programming and computer science skills of Pakistani students. The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) credited a fair and transparent selection process for this achievement and congratulated the students, their families, and mentors.
The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training tasked FBISE with managing Pakistan’s participation. Notifications were issued to all education boards, including Cambridge schools. Out of 528 applicants, two rounds of competitive tests were held in 12 centers nationwide. From 25 shortlisted students in the second round, the top four were finally selected to represent Pakistan.
This victory for Pakistani students International Olympiad medals highlights Pakistan’s young tech talent competing successfully on a global stage. Winning four bronze medals and achieving a higher ranking has brought national pride and inspired future programmers to aim for international success.
