The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has announced that the Zil Hajj moon was not sighted in Pakistan on Tuesday. As a result, the first day of Zil Hajj will be observed on Thursday, May 29, and Eid al-Azha will be celebrated on Saturday, June 7.
The announcement was made by Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad following a meeting in Islamabad, attended by members of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, SUPARCO, and the Meteorological Department. Zonal committee meetings were also held in major cities including Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, and Peshawar.
Maulana Azad stated that no credible moon sighting reports were received from any region, and cloudy weather conditions across much of the country further hindered visibility.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and other Gulf countries announced that they had sighted the Zil Hajj crescent on Tuesday, confirming Eid al-Azha will be observed there on Friday, June 6, with Hajj taking place on Thursday, June 5.
