The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Saturday affirmed that the deadline for filing income tax returns will not be extended beyond September 30, 2024.
Taxpayers are urged to submit their returns by this date to avoid penalties or delays.
According to the FBR spokesperson, the government is focused on fostering a culture of compliance with tax laws. This initiative is being actively pursued with the support of taxpayers, and last year’s decision not to extend the filing deadline received a positive response.
The FBR’s Iris portal for tax return submission has been up and running since July 2021 to provide taxpayers with a longer period to finish their filings and make the process easier. The FBR also cautioned taxpayers to submit their returns without delay, as postponing it until the deadline could result in system delays caused by heavy traffic.
The FBR reiterated that there will be no extension of the deadline, so taxpayers must meet their legal obligations before September 30 to prevent any last-minute problems.
