New Zealand won by 45 runs as Finn Allen, the New Zealand opener, set a record by smashing 137 off 62 deliveries, establishing a formidable 225-run target for Pakistan in the third T20I held in Dunedin on Wednesday.
In the third T20I against Pakistan in Dunedin, New Zealand opener Finn Allen made history by scoring a record-breaking 137 off 62 deliveries, surpassing Brendon McCullum’s record for the highest score by a New Zealander in T20 internationals.
Allen also equaled the world record for hitting 16 sixes in an innings, a record shared with Afghanistan’s Hazratullah Zazai. During his explosive innings, he scored 27 runs off an over from Pakistan’s Haris Rauf.
Despite Pakistan winning the toss and choosing to bowl, New Zealand set a challenging target of 225 runs. The Black Caps, missing regular captain Kane Williamson due to injury, lead the series 2-0 and aim to secure the series win.
And that’s a wrap from Dunedin, New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 45 runs as Pakistan could reach the mark of 225 and could manage only 179/7 in 20 overs.
New Zealand was clinical today and Finn Allen made sure to cash in on his red-hot form. He left Pakistan in tatters with his blitzkrieg and Pakistan weren’t consistent enough with their lines and lengths, and looked rusty.
Once again, Pakistan batters found it tough to get on top of the bowlers, and many of their aerial shots went into the hands of fielders.
