Fresh tension has erupted between Prince Harry’s team and the Palace just days after news broke about secret peace talks. The private meeting between senior aides of King Charles and Prince Harry was meant to open a path to healing their strained relationship. But things quickly went wrong when details of the meeting were leaked to the press.
According to The Telegraph, Harry’s team is frustrated that the story – which included quotes and even pictures – was published so soon in The Mail on Sunday. The meeting involved the King’s top aide Tobyn Andrae, Harry’s new communications officer Meredith Maines, and his UK publicist Liam Maguire. While the talks were described as informal and held over drinks, they were sensitive in nature.
This leak has reignited the trust issues that have long existed between the two sides. Prince Harry has often claimed that royal family members leaked stories to the media, which he says played a big part in the family’s fallout. On the other side, the Palace has been cautious about speaking with Harry and Meghan, fearing their words might end up in public again, as seen in the couple’s Netflix series and Harry’s book *Spare*.
Despite the drama, reports suggest that Harry could meet King Charles again soon, possibly when he visits the UK in September for the WellChild Awards. However, there is no talk of Harry returning to royal duties.
The royal family is already preparing for a busy September, including a planned state visit from former US President Donald Trump and his wife Melania.
Whether the King and Harry will meet face to face remains uncertain, but one thing is clear – rebuilding trust will take time.
