Lahore (MediaBites Web Desk) – Renowned Islamic scholar and preacher, Dr. Zakir Naik, who is visiting Pakistan on the government’s invitation, has expressed concern and criticized the unfortunate treatment by the CEO of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
According to details, Dr. Zakir Naik arrived in Pakistan a few days ago for a 30-day visit. A grand event was held in his honor at the Governor House Sindh , along with two public gatherings where he provided religious guidance on various topics and answered questions from the attendees. During one of his lectures, Dr. Zakir Naik recounted an incident he experienced and expressed his displeasure with the behavior of a national airline official.
He shared that while traveling from Malaysia to Pakistan, the total luggage weight for his group was 1,000 kilograms. He spoke to the CEO of PIA regarding the issue. He mentioned that when he contacted the PIA country manager, the manager responded, “Doctor Sb, I will do anything for you.” Dr. Naik explained, “We are six people, and the luggage is 500-600 kilograms over the limit.”
According to Dr. Zakir Naik, “The officer said, ‘Don’t worry; I will give you a 50 percent discount on the charges for the extra luggage.’ To this, I replied, ‘Either waive it completely or don’t give it at all,’ and I declined his offer.” Dr. Zakir Naik further said, “This is the bad behavior of Pakistan’s national airline. If any non-Muslim in India sees me, they let me go without any charges.” He added, “In India, if any non-Muslim sees Dr. Zakir Naik, they waive off up to 1,000-2,000 kilograms without any issue.”
This video statement has gone viral on social media, and Indian media is also covering it extensively. Social media Users have criticized PIA for their behavior.
Dr. Zakir Naik further said, “I am a guest of the government. My visa states ‘State Guest,’ and the CEO of PIA says he will offer a 50% discount while they charge 110 ringgits (7,135 Pakistani Rupees) for every extra kilogram.”
He further stated, “I was so disheartened that as a state guest, I am coming to Pakistan, and they can’t waive 300 kilograms but instead offer a 50% discount. I don’t need such a discount.”
