Director Nadeem Baig recently shared an interesting story about casting legendary actress Saima Noor in his project Main Manto Nahin Hoon. According to him, Saima initially rejected the role multiple times despite his repeated requests. Nadeem, who has admired Saima since her early film days, believed that no filmmaker had truly showcased her full talent. Determined to have her in the project, he eventually called veteran director Syed Noor—Saima’s husband—to persuade her. With his encouragement, Saima finally agreed to sign on, and Nadeem says the outcome is “nothing short of magic.”
Saima Noor had her reasons for saying no at first. Known for being selective about her roles, she avoids projects that don’t challenge her acting skills or fit her principles. Nadeem’s persistence and Syed Noor’s support eventually helped change her mind.
Apart from this drama, Saima has appeared in several popular TV projects, including Piya Naam Ka Diya and Rishton Ki Dor. However, she is best known as one of Pakistan’s biggest film stars from the 1990s and 2000s, delivering hits like Choorian, Majajan, Daku Rani, and Khuda Kay Liye.
Her personal life has also been a storybook romance. Saima and Syed Noor kept their relationship private for many years before publicly acknowledging their marriage. Syed Noor not only guided her career but also directed some of her most iconic films.
