In a dramatic final of the IBSF World Snooker Championship, Pakistan’s Muhammad Asif defeated Asian champion Ali Ghazghazlu of Iran 5-3 to claim the title.
According to reports from Qatar, Muhammad Asif continued his exceptional form in the 9-frame final, leaving his opponent powerless and securing a well-deserved victory. With this triumph, Asif became the IBSF World Snooker Champion for the third time in his career.
This victory also saw Mohammad Asif match the record of India’s Pankaj Advani, who had won the world title three times.
Asif’s remarkable performance in the tournament included setting a new record by making six century breaks. He had previously defeated Cyprus’ Michael Georgiou 5-3 in a thrilling encounter to reach the final.
The 42-year-old cueist from Faisalabad first won the IBSF World Snooker Championship in 2012, and then again in 2019.
Earlier in the tournament, Asif had secured a spot in the final four by defeating UAE’s Mohammad Shahab 4-1.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Pakistan Snooker and Billiards Association, Alamgir Sheikh, along with other officials, congratulated Mohammad Asif for his outstanding victory. They hailed his achievement as a significant honor for Pakistan and expressed hope that, just like Arshad Nadeem, who won a gold medal in Javelin Throw at the Paris Olympics, Asif will receive the recognition he deserves for his third world title and be rewarded accordingly.
