A controversial hoarding in Tamil Nadu’s Kancheepuram district has sparked widespread outrage, as the image of former adult film star Mia Khalifa was displayed alongside deities during the ‘Aadi’ festival celebrations.
The ‘Aadi’ festival, a significant religious event in Tamil Nadu, honors Goddess Amma (Parvati) and features grand festivities across villages, attracting thousands of devotees.
However, a hoarding at the Nagathaman and Seliyaman temples in Kuruvimalai caused a stir when Mia Khalifa’s picture was edited to appear as if she was carrying a traditional ‘pal kadam’ (milk pot) offering.
The individuals responsible for the hoarding included their names on the display, similar to an Aadhaar card. After the image went viral, police promptly removed the hoarding, addressing the public’s concerns.
Notably, Mia Khalifa has publicly spoken out against the adult film industry, urging young women to avoid it and warning them about those who might pressure them into it.
This incident highlights the importance of respecting cultural and religious sensitivities, especially during significant festivals like ‘Aadi’.
