Model, actress, and TV host Mathira recently criticized the prevalent unrealistic beauty standards and body shaming in Pakistan.
In a podcast discussion, she talked about different societal problems, such as the negative remarks aimed at people who are overweight.
Mathira emphasized that in Pakistan, there is a particular fascination with fair-skinned heroines who are required to have slim waists and a size zero body. She emphasized that each individual’s body is unique and that criticizing someone’s weight is both unnecessary and damaging.
The actress highlighted that women specifically encounter various weight-related obstacles because of hormonal changes and menstrual cycles. She pointed out how some TV hosts tend to display photos of people and discuss their weight, advising for increased empathy towards the various factors at play.
Mathira also emphasized that a weight of 100 kg may be considered normal for certain individuals and that criticizing someone’s body should be refrained from. She urged both males and females to prioritize their careers over concerns about their weight or giving in to societal expectations.
Mathira specifically advised young men to focus on their careers first, rather than considering marriage. She contended that attaining professional success would allow them to offer improved care for their future families.
The actress expressed regret that numerous young individuals in Pakistan value marriage more than career advancement. She advised them to reassess their objectives and concentrate on establishing a secure and prosperous future initially.
