Mashreq Digital Bank Pakistan launch has opened new opportunities for overseas Pakistanis. The bank announced that people with Mashreq Digital Bank accounts in the UAE can now open accounts in Pakistan and send money home free of cost. This move will support millions of Pakistanis working in the Gulf.
At the official ceremony, State Minister for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani, State Bank Governor Jameel Ahmad, Mashreq Group Chairman Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair, Group CEO Ahmed Abdelaal, and leaders from the Pakistan Banks Association attended. Their presence showed the importance of this step for Pakistan’s economy.
During the event, PBA Chairman Zafar Masud praised Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair’s leadership, saying it has given a new direction to banking in the region. He added that Mashreq Digital Bank will play a key role in strengthening Pakistan’s economy. Senior Vice Chairman Yusuf Hussain also said the project will create new jobs and bring digital banking opportunities.
Mashreq Pakistan CEO Humayoun Sajjad shared that the goal is to become one of the world’s top banks. He said overseas Pakistanis can now easily open accounts and send remittances without fees. Group CEO Ahmed Abdelaal added that Mashreq will provide real-time digital banking and support financial inclusion in Pakistan.
Governor State Bank Jameel Ahmad announced that financial inclusion will reach 67% by 2028. He confirmed that 40 applications were received for digital banking licenses, and five banks were approved. Mashreq Digital Bank Pakistan launch is one of the first among them.
This launch will also create 450 jobs in Pakistan, with 45% of positions for women. It marks a major step toward digital transformation and financial growth.
