Mary Lou Retton, the Olympic gold-winning gymnast, is currently in the ICU battling a rare form of pneumonia, according to her daughter, McKenna Kelley.
McKenna shared this latest health condition of Mary Lou Retton on her Instagram story and set up a fundraising page to help with her mother’s medical expenses.
She mentioned that Mary Lou Retton is struggling to breathe without assistance and has been in the ICU for over a week. The family is seeking both prayers and financial support for the hospital bills, as Mary Lou Retton is not insured.
Mary Lou Retton made history by winning an individual all-around gold medal at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, becoming the first American to do so.
