Lahore, Pakistan – Dr. Faiza Ismail, Assistant Professor at the Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law (SAHSOL), LUMS, has achieved a significant milestone by co-authoring a major international case study titled “Pakistan and the FATF Grey List” in collaboration with Professor Howell E. Jackson of Harvard Law School. The three-part case study has been published by the Harvard Law School Case Studies Program and is now publicly accessible via the Harvard repository.
The case study offers an in-depth analysis of Pakistan’s engagement with the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), highlighting efforts to strengthen Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) frameworks. It examines regulatory reforms, institutional challenges, and strategic measures Pakistan has undertaken to meet international standards.
Serving as both a teaching and policy resource, the study provides valuable insights for scholars, policymakers, and financial practitioners. Readers can explore how Pakistan navigates FATF requirements while addressing domestic policy and institutional hurdles.
Speaking on this achievement, Dr. Faiza Ismail said, “Co-authoring this case study with Harvard Law School has been a rewarding experience. It highlights Pakistan’s efforts on a global platform and serves as a practical guide for policymakers, academics, and students.”
Professor Howell E. Jackson of Harvard added, “This case study is an essential educational tool. It demonstrates how international financial standards are applied within a national context and provides valuable lessons for students and practitioners worldwide.”
The publication of “Pakistan and the FATF Grey List” reinforces LUMS’ commitment to producing high-impact, globally relevant research. With Dr. Faiza Ismail’s expertise and international collaboration, the case study is now a key reference for those studying AML/CFT compliance, financial law, and regulatory reforms.
