Squid Game star Lee Jung-jae has opened up about the most difficult games he faced while filming the hit Netflix series, sharing insights at a recent press conference.
The actor explained that each game across all three seasons had unique physical and emotional demands. Reflecting on season one, he admitted Red Light, Green Light was especially tough. “I didn’t know what to expect, emotionally or physically,” he said, recalling feeling awkward and overwhelmed during the shoot.
When the game returned in season two, it posed a new challenge—trying to lead 455 players. “I was shouting constantly, like a class president trying to quiet a noisy classroom,” he joked.
For emotional strain, Lee pointed to a game called Mingle. “You bond with people, then have to abandon or even kill them moments later,” he shared. “At one point, you just watch people die in front of you. That emotional arc was extremely tough.”
Balancing physical exertion with psychological intensity, Lee summed up the experience as both mentally and physically exhausting—showcasing the demanding nature of bringing Squid Game to life.
