In the wake of the shocking murder of Javed Butt, brother-in-law of Teefi Butt, Lahore police authorities have constituted a panel of expert investigators to handle the case.
DIG Investigation Zeeshan Asghar has approved the panel consisting of two Superintendent of Police (SP) officers – Sadar Shahzad Rafiq Awan and Rana Zahid – and two Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) officers – Iftikhar Rasool and Ijaz Ahmad.
The attack is suspected to be linked with the murder case of Ameer Balaj Tipu, in which Teefi Butt is accused along with Gogi Butt.
The panel will start investigating the case on Wednesday and plans to clear the mystery of the murder of Javed Butt.
The police said to identify the man who shot Javed Butt to death, brother-in-law of Khawaja Tareef Butt, alias Teefi Butt.
Sources say now manhunt is being carried out with a motorcycle-borne shooter named Azhar, a resident of Santnagar, Islampura.
According to police reports, Azhar had allegedly taken on rent a rickshaw from Garhi Shahu’s resident Wajihaul Hasan to commit the crime. Sources said that on the day of the murder, Azhar had parked the rickshaw in one of the rickshaw stands in the Sanda area and then boarded a motorcycle to carry out the shooting.
The rickshaw was traced by the investigating teams, and Azhar was found to be the main culprit. Special investigation teams have launched raids at different places in order to catch him. So far, the police have failed to arrest the accused with all their hard work, but they are optimistic about his arrest soon.
On September 2, in a fresh twist to the Ameer Balaj Tipu murder case, the brother-in-law of prime accused Teefi Butt, Javed Butt was shot dead by assailants who opened fire at him at the busy Canal Road in Lahore as he sat on a scooter.
The wife of Javed suffered injuries and was shifted to the hospital.
