A sad incident has happened in Kurram Agency. Unknown armed individuals opened fire on passenger vehicles in Kurram Agency , KPK , resulting in the deaths of 32 people, including women, while several others sustained injuries. According to the police, the passenger vehicles were traveling in a convoy from Lower Kurram to Parachinar when they were attacked.
The District Police Officer (DPO) of Kurram, the Deputy Commissioner, and police officers have arrived at the scene, and investigations into the incident are ongoing. The convoy, which was traveling from Parachinar to Peshawar, was specifically targeted by the attackers.
Hospital authorities have reported that the death toll has now risen to 33. Thirteen victims have been identified, while identification efforts for the remaining 20, including 14 men and 6 women, are still underway.
The attack occurred in the Ochut area, with the firing lasting for approximately half an hour. Eyewitnesses stated that the assailants were armed with automatic weapons and fired indiscriminately at the vehicles.
Passenger vehicles on this route are typically escorted by security forces for protection. Notably, a similar incident occurred on October 12, leading to a 22-day closure of the main route. Subsequently, the convoy was granted permission to use an alternative route
