The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has introduced a new digital identity system called Khyber Pass , which is the first of its kind in Pakistan. This platform uses QR codes to provide citizens with a single, easy-to-use access point for various government services.
The official launch took place at the Chief Minister’s House, where CM Ali Amin Khan Gandapur inaugurated the system. Khyber Pass connects with NADRA and other official databases to help residents securely access their personal records and government services online—without needing to submit physical documents repeatedly.
Right now, three services are available through the platform. However, the government plans to add all provincial services soon, including the popular Sehat Card. Citizens will be able to use their digital ID and QR code to access healthcare, education, tax, property, and license services. The goal is to reduce long queues, eliminate paperwork, and improve transparency.
According to CM Gandapur, this step is part of PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s vision to digitize governance. He highlighted earlier digital reforms, including Rs. 3 billion saved through digitized challans and Rs. 13 billion saved on Sehat Card monitoring—despite more people using it.
He also noted that the provincial treasury has increased to Rs. 190 billion under his leadership. Strengthening the IT sector and bringing services to people’s doorsteps are key priorities moving forward.
Khyber Pass is seen as a major step in modernizing public services and making life easier for the people of KP.
