expected to become law in the near future.
Winslet’s award-winning performance in the miniseries I Am Ruth, where she portrays a mother dealing with her teenager’s mental health struggles and social media addiction,
deeply resonated with families feeling trapped by the influence of the online world. She dedicated her award to those families and young people affected, stating that their lives don’t have to revolve around the darker aspects of social media.The actor also acknowledged her daughter, Mia Threapleton, who co-starred with her in the
series.

MRF emphasized
that Winslet’s concerns echoed the worries of families across the UK. They called attention to the harmful influence of algorithms on tech platforms, which expose vulnerable young people to digital dangers on a daily basis.
