Karachi the largest city in Pakistan was hit by a massive power outage on January 19, 2025 leaving millions of residents without electricity. The outage was caused by a technical fault in K-Electric’s extra high-tension (EHT) line which led to several grid stations tripping. As a result, multiple areas of the city were affected including Lyari, Kharadar, Defence and I.I. Chundrigar Road.
The power outage also affected several other areas including SITE Area North Karachi North Nazimabad and Numaish Chowrangi. Residents of Federal B Area were also hit hard with electricity supply suspended in several blocks since early morning.
