Johnson & Johnson (J&J) has changed their logo and name after 136 years, for its Janssen pharmaceutical business.
The change comes just one year after renaming its medical device business and shortly after spinning off its consumer health business.
The iconic 136-year-old logo has been replaced with a more modern version, retaining the famous ampersand.
J&J‘s CEO, Joaquin Duato, noted that the rebrand aims to emphasize the company’s commitment to innovative medicine and medical technology.
The Janssen Pharmaceutical Cos. of Johnson & Johnson will now operate as Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, aligning it with the MedTech device business under a unified name.
This consolidation is intended to harness the strength of a single, recognizable brand worldwide. J&J’s MedTech division is one of the world’s largest, while Janssen ranks as the fourth-largest pharmaceutical company globally.

The company’s old logo, in use since 1887, has been updated to reflect J&J’s dynamic spirit and dedication to improving healthcare.
The new logo incorporates elements that convey urgency, humanity, and global recognition. J&J’s rebranding effort is designed to resonate with its focus on innovation and inclusivity in healthcare.
Earlier this year, J&J initiated the Illustrate Change diversity initiative to enhance the representation of different populations in medical illustrations and promote inclusiveness for patients of color.
