Iran’s Defence Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh issued a stark warning on Wednesday, stating that if nuclear negotiations with the United States break down and conflict erupts, Iran will target American military bases across the region. “If a conflict is imposed on us, all U.S. bases are within our reach, and we will boldly target them in host countries,” he said at a press conference.
The warning comes just days before the expected sixth round of nuclear talks between Tehran and Washington. While U.S. President Donald Trump stated that negotiations are scheduled for Thursday, Iranian officials say the talks will take place Sunday in Oman. Iran is preparing a counter-proposal after rejecting a previous U.S. offer.
Tensions have escalated further as Trump continues to threaten Iran with military action if no agreement is reached. On Tuesday, he accused Tehran of becoming “much more aggressive” in the ongoing negotiations.
Adding to the tension, Nasirzadeh revealed that Iran recently tested a missile equipped with a two-ton warhead and stressed that the country will not accept any limitations on its military capabilities.
