Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister Imran Khan expressed his lack of fear regarding the arrest of General (R) Faiz Hameed.
Speaking to journalists at Adiala Jail, he said that his primary concern is the direction in which the country is headed, urging the establishment to recognize the nation’s path towards destruction.
The PTI founder conveyed his strong message to the establishment, stating, “You are destroying the country and its institutions by placing fraudulent individuals in power.” He reiterated his stance on the arrest of General Faiz, asserting that if he were afraid, he would not have called for a judicial commission.
He also highlighted the financial loss of $5 million incurred by the country due to the ban on social media and the internet.
Regarding legak battle, Imran Khan pointed out that the new reference against him and his party stems from remarks made by the Chief Justice on November 23. He questioned the propriety of the Chief Justice commenting on a reference still under hearing, suggesting that the remarks sent a clear message to the presiding judge.
He speculated that these actions are being driven by the desire to secure an extension for the Chief Justice and a two-thirds majority in Parliament.
The former prime minister mentioned that three more of his party members have faced legal challenges, which he attributes to the influence of Nawaz Sharif. He hinted that the truth behind Sharif’s accusations against PTI will soon be revealed through the Economic Survey of Pakistan.
Khan responded to a query about Sher Afzal Marwat, a figure seeking to resolve disputes, by expressing his willingness to meet whenever Marwat visits.
Meanwhile, the hearing of the £190 million reference against Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, has been postponed until August 21, as the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) investigation officer was not cross-examined during the latest session.
