The founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former prime minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, has announced conditional apology for the incidents on May 9, 2023.
According to media reports, te demanded that the CCTV footage from that day be released in order to determine the individuals responsible for any arson incidents.
During an informal discussion with reporters at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, the PTI founder talked about the recent comments made by the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) regarding the events of May 9.
Mr Khan declared that we are the ones who suffered on May 9 and we are seeking justice. He stressed that if he were genuinely scared of the consequences, he wouldn’t have requested the establishment of a legal inquiry to examine the incidents.
The former PM stressed the importance of transparency and accountability, stating that he would apologize if any member of his party was found to be involved in arson. Why are you concealing the evidence that you possess? Concealing proof is an illegal act. We have the right to engage in peaceful demonstration.

When questioned about PTI members’ participation in the incidents, Khan repeated his request for the CCTV footage to be made available. He stated that we only used petrol bombs in Zaman Park, Lahore, and nowhere else. He also addressed accusations of PTI officials in Rawalpindi using petrol bombs on important buildings by saying that any party member responsible should face strict punishment.
Khan finished by urging the officials to reveal all evidence, stressing the importance of justice and accountability.
