Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Hardik Pandya paid a glorious tribute to MS Dhoni, the captain of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), after their defeat in the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.
Despite the loss, Pandya expressed his pride in his team and stated that if he had to lose the title, he would prefer losing it to Dhoni.
In a thrilling match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, CSK emerged victorious by five wickets with a grandstand finish from Ravindra Jadeja.
Pandya acknowledged that it was destiny for Dhoni to win the title and believed that good things happen to good people, with Dhoni being one of the best people he knows.
During the post-match presentation, Pandya expressed his happiness for Dhoni and credited destiny for the outcome of the match. He mentioned that while he has also been fortunate in his career, that night belonged to Dhoni.
Pandya also commended Sai Sudharsan, who played an outstanding innings of 96 runs off 47 balls for GT, helping them post a formidable total of 214/4.
Pandya further praised his team’s fighting spirit and their motto of unity. He acknowledged CSK’s superior performance and highlighted the exceptional contributions of players like Sudharsan, Mohit, Rashid, and Shami.
