Haider Ali, faces rape allegations in the UK by a British Pakistani woman, but timeline gaps, cordial meetings, and swift bail release raise questions over the claim’s credibility amid an ongoing police investigation.
LONDON — Pakistani cricketer Haider Ali faces a rape allegation by a British Pakistani woman, but new details have raised questions about the timeline and credibility of the claim.
According to sources, the woman, in her early 20s and whose identity is protected for legal reasons, first connected with Haider Ali on social media last year. Their first in-person meeting took place on July 23 at a Manchester hotel, followed by lunch.
Witnesses said the meeting appeared pleasant, with both seen smiling and talking. On Aug. 1, the woman reportedly traveled nearly four hours to Ashford, Kent, to meet Haider Ali again. They had lunch and went for a walk.
Surprisingly, the allegation came nearly two weeks after the first meeting and three days after the second, on Aug. 4. Sources say the woman showed no signs of discomfort or dissatisfaction during or after the meetings. Phone records also suggest normal communication continued.

Police arrested Haider Ali on Aug. 5 but released him on bail 48 hours later. His phone was returned — an unusual step unless evidence is lacking. Haider Ali has strongly denied the accusation, insisting on his innocence.
Greater Manchester Police said they are supporting the alleged victim while continuing the investigation.
