Electricity bill payment deadline has been extended by the federal government for citizens living in flood-affected areas. The decision aims to give relief to families already suffering due to floods.
Federal Minister for Energy Awais Leghari said that the power supply suspension in affected regions would continue until it was safe for residents. He stressed that public safety comes first.
The minister also highlighted recent government measures. He said that Rs100 billion refund had already been given to consumers as compensation for last year’s overbilling. He assured people that no such practice was happening now.
Leghari added that electricity tariffs were lowered and the country’s power sector was moving on the right track. He said the government was working to improve the energy sector for long-term stability.
Meanwhile, rescue work is under way. In Punjab, authorities are using thermal drones to find and save flood victims. These efforts are part of wider relief operations.
The extension in the electricity bill payment deadline shows the government’s focus on easing financial pressure in difficult times.
