Dubai Sheikh Zayed Road will be closed temporarily on Sunday, November 12, 2023, due to the Dubai Ride public cycling event, a part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge.
Dubai authorities have outlined alternative routes for drivers during this Dubai Ride challenge period.
According to the event’s website, the Dubai Ride routes commence at 6:15 am, urging participants to arrive 30 minutes prior, start their ride by 7:30 am, and conclude by 8:15 am.
Road closures will stretch from the Dubai Trade Centre Tower Roundabout to the Safa Park/Al Hadiqa Street exit on Sheikh Zayed Road. Additionally, the lower deck of Financial Centre Street, between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road, will be inaccessible to traffic.

For alternative routes, motorists are advised to use Al Wasl Street and Al Khail Road, both running parallel to Sheikh Zayed Road.
The Dubai Ride offers two routes this year: a 4km Downtown Family route and a 12km route along Sheikh Zayed Road. The 4km route follows Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, passing iconic landmarks such as Dubai Mall, Dubai Opera, and the Burj Khalifa. Geared for cyclists of all ages and abilities, it is a flat route.
Meanwhile, the more challenging 12km route takes place on Sheikh Zayed Road, offering five starting points for convenience: Museum of The Future, Al Satwa, Coca-Cola Arena, Business Bay, and Lower Financial St. Organizers recommend this route for experienced cyclists.
Prospective participants are encouraged to register on the event’s website before taking part in the Dubai Ride.
