Dr Mishal Kareem case continues to dominate headlines as police and rescue teams fail to trace her one week after she allegedly jumped into a stormwater drain in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi. The tragic incident has left her family in shock, while police investigations are underway.
According to reports, Dr Mishal Kareem, a 26-year-old physiotherapist at Jinnah Hospital, went missing after a fight with her husband, Hasnain Shah. Witnesses claimed she jumped into the drain, but despite continuous rescue operations by Edhi divers and Rescue 1122, no trace of her has been found.
The Dr Mishal Kareem case took a serious turn after her father, Fazal Kareem, filed an FIR against her husband. He alleged that Hasnain Shah subjected his daughter to mental torture due to his alleged affair with a bank colleague. He claimed his daughter had confided about the abuse and threats she faced.
Police confirmed that an FIR has been registered under Sections 322 and 511, and Hasnain Shah has been arrested. Investigators also collected blood samples for DNA testing after traces of blood were found near Rashid Minhas Park.
The missing doctor’s father insists his daughter was forced into this act due to domestic abuse. Authorities continue their search while legal proceedings move forward. The case has raised serious questions about domestic violence and women’s safety in Pakistan.
