Former cricketer of Pakistan, Danish Kaneria’s remarks on India’s refusal to play the Champions Trophy in Pakistan have gone viral on social media, sparking significant backlash. In the viral video, Kaneria, speaking to Indian media, openly criticized Pakistan, saying that India would not send its team to Pakistan and predicted that the matches would instead be held in Dubai under a “hybrid model.”
Although the video was recorded some months ago, its resurfacing has heightened tensions, especially after India formally declined to participate in the Champions Trophy in Pakistan. Kaneria’s words have shocked many Pakistani cricket fans, as he had gained fame and success representing Pakistan in international cricket, taking 261 wickets in 61 Test matches and 15 wickets in 18 ODIs.
In response to India’s decision, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued a strong reaction and formally reached out to the International Cricket Council (ICC), demanding an explanation for India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan for the tournament.
