A shocking controversy has erupted within the journalist community in Lahore, with allegations of personal vendetta and unfair treatment of Lahore Press Club members.
The eye of the storm is the Journalist Group, which suspended the membership of 300 professional members without the approval of the governing body.
This move has drawn much attention, especially since the governing body’s member, Raza Muhammad, is among those affected. To make matters worse, Raza Muhammad’s annual fees were deliberately not collected, preventing him from exercising his voting rights.
Asif Butt, President of EMRA, has questioned the legality of suspending the membership of 300 members, pointing out that the President of the Journalist Group, Arshad Ansari, is also not employed by any organization.
