Carlos Alcaraz Million Dollar Slam is bringing a new twist to the tennis world ahead of the 2025 Australian Open. Amateur players will get a once-in-a-lifetime chance to face world number one Carlos Alcaraz. And other top professionals in a single-point knockout format for a prize of A$1 million.
In the Carlos Alcaraz Million Dollar Slam, 10 amateurs will compete against 22 professionals at Melbourne Park. Each match will be decided by one point only, with players using ‘rock, paper, scissors’ to decide who serves first. The winner of the event will take home £490,000, a prize close to what semi-finalists earn at the Australian Open.
Australian Open tournament director Craig Tilley confirmed that the competition will take place at Rod Laver Arena. And with the finals scheduled for 14 January. Entries for amateur players will open soon at local tennis clubs across Australia, with state winners advancing to the grand finale.
This unique event builds on the success of the previous One Point Slam, which had a smaller A$60,000 prize. The 2025 edition promises to be bigger, featuring more stars, celebrities, and exciting crowd moments.
By merging professionals and amateurs on one court, the Carlos Alcaraz Million Dollar Slam aims to celebrate skill, chance, and the unpredictability of tennis — where one shot can change everything.
