Six murders in Sargodha: Suspect cites ‘illicit relations’ as motive, claims disputed by locals
SARGODHA (MediaBites): New details have emerged in the Bhagtanwala massacre case, where a man killed his wife and five children, as police probe the motive behind one of the region’s most horrifying domestic crimes.
The suspect, Yaseen, told investigators he carried out the killings over suspicions of “illicit relations,” alleging that his wife and teenage daughter were involved with a man identified as Ghulam Mustafa.
According to police sources, the accused claimed he had been monitoring their movements for several days and executed the attack with premeditation using an axe.
At the crime scene, a heartbreaking detail drew everyone’s attention and left many in tears. On a wall inside the house, a large heart had been carefully drawn using small colorful hearts, with the words “Papa Jan” written in the center. According to neighbors, the daughters deeply loved their father and were strongly attached to him—but the tragedy that followed has left the entire community in shock and disbelief.
Claims vs community response
However, the suspect’s narrative has been strongly rejected by residents of Chak 25 South. Locals described the deceased woman as “respectable and well-mannered,” dismissing the allegations as baseless.
They said the accused had a history of extreme suspicion and frequently questioned the character of his wife and even the paternity of his children.
A crime driven by suspicion?
Investigators say the suspect believed all five children were not his, a claim that may have fueled the brutal killings. Authorities are now examining whether paranoia, domestic conflict, or mental instability played a role.
In a disturbing sequence of events, the accused allegedly phoned a relative after the incident, confessing to the killings, after which police were alerted and arrested him.
Investigation continues
Police say forensic evidence, digital records, and witness statements are being reviewed to verify the suspect’s claims and establish the true motive.
The case has sparked widespread debate over domestic violence, false accusations, and the deadly consequences of unchecked suspicion.
