WEBDESK — June 22, 2025: Chilling Wedding Night Turns Deadly: Bride Killed in Brutal Gun Attack in French Village
What was meant to be the happiest night of the Bride’s life became her last.
A 27-year-old bride was shot and killed in a horrifying attack during her wedding celebration in the quiet village of Goult, southeastern France. The massacre unfolded around 4:30 a.m., as the newlyweds were leaving their wedding party and were ambushed by masked gunmen armed with multiple weapons.
In an exchange of gunfire and chaos, the bride was fatally shot, while her 25-year-old husband and a 13-year-old child—both passengers in their car—sustained serious injuries. One of the attackers also died during the assault, reportedly run over by the couple’s vehicle in a desperate attempt to escape.
A total of 28 guests were in attendance at the village hall when bullets shattered what should have been a night of celebration and unity.
Authorities suspect the motive may be linked to drug-related score-settling, though no firm conclusions have been drawn. The attackers fled the scene on foot, leaving behind a village paralyzed with grief and fear.
“I’m outraged,” said Mayor Didier Perello, visibly shaken. “Nothing like this has ever happened here. We’re not ruling anything out.”

The attack has sparked a murder and attempted murder investigation by an organized gang. Dozens of police officers and a helicopter are now hunting the remaining suspects.
Residents are in disbelief. “The last major incident in this village was 125 years ago,” said local restaurant owner Guillaume Molinas. “Now, it’s a place marked by blood on a bride’s white dress.”
The French government, already under pressure to curb drug-linked violence, faces mounting calls to deliver justice—and prevent such tragedies from repeating.
What should have been the first day of a lifelong journey together has instead become a symbol of senseless brutality, shaking a peaceful village to its core.
