NEPRA electricity price cut. In a significant move, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved a major cut in electricity prices, bringing much-needed relief to consumers across Pakistan, including Karachi. The decision allows a reduction of Rs 1.89 per unit under the quarterly adjustment for April to June 2025.
NEPRA electricity price cut. This electricity rate cut will be applicable from August to October 2025. And will benefit all consumers of distribution companies (DISCOs), including K-Electric. However, the relief will not apply to lifeline and prepaid meter users. The total financial relief for consumers is expected to reach Rs 55.87 billion.
The decision came after distribution companies submitted requests for a price reduction, which NEPRA reviewed during a public hearing on August 4. The proposal has now been sent to the federal government for formal approval and notification.
This step is part of the government’s broader strategy to provide economic relief. And reduce the burden of rising electricity costs on the general public. If implemented promptly, consumers may see lower bills starting this month.
