Washington, D.C. – Former U.S. President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer, according to an official statement released by his physician on Saturday. The news has drawn widespread attention, prompting an outpouring of support from across the political spectrum, including from current President Donald Trump.
Dr. Kevin O’Connor, Biden’s longtime physician, confirmed that while the cancer is aggressive, it was detected relatively early and treatment has already begun. “President Biden remains in good spirits and is focused on his health and family,” O’Connor said.

President Trump, who succeeded Biden in 2024 and is currently serving his second non-consecutive term, addressed the diagnosis during a policy forum in Arizona. “Jill and I are praying for Joe and his family,” Trump stated. “We had our battles, but this moment calls for compassion. I wish him strength and recovery.”
Political leaders from both parties echoed similar sentiments. Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi called Biden “a beacon of resilience,” while Republican Senator Tim Scott offered prayers for Biden’s “healing and peace of mind.”
Biden, now 82, has largely stayed out of the public spotlight since leaving office but continues to engage in public service through the Biden Institute. The diagnosis has sparked concern among supporters, especially given his long-standing role as a prominent voice in American politics.
No further public statements have been made by Biden’s family, though sources close to the family say he is “grateful for the bipartisan support.”
