Karachi is under a thick haze today, and at the National Bank Stadium, some big names are back in the spotlight. Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi have joined the national white-ball training camp in Karachi, even though they’re not part of the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that these senior players are part of the extended training group from July 9 to 15. While they won’t travel with the 15-member squad, their inclusion in the camp shows they’re still in future plans—possibly for the next series, which could be against the West Indies.
This camp is also a chance for them to stay fit and ready, as there’s been no international cricket for Pakistan in the past month. Naseem Shah and Mohammad Wasim Jr. are also attending the camp to continue their fitness training.
The PCB appears to be building a new T20I squad with fresh talent, but is keeping experienced players involved to support the younger group. It’s a clear sign that Babar, Rizwan, and Shaheen remain important for the team’s future.
Meanwhile, the new 15-member squad for the Bangladesh T20I series was announced, led by Salman Ali Agha. It includes players like Fakhar Zaman, Saim Ayub, Mohammad Nawaz, and newcomers such as Ahmed Daniyal and Salman Mirza.
Training starts today in Karachi, as Pakistan’s cricket team balances building a new side while keeping experienced players in the mix.
