Pakistani athlete Arshad Nadeem achieved a milestone for the country by securing the nation’s first Olympic gold medal in four decades in the men’s javelin event at the Paris Olympics.
His impressive throw of 92.97 meters, setting a new Olympic record after 118 years, made the victory even more significant.
India’s Neeraj Chopra, who won the gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, claimed the silver medal. Nadeem’s monumental win not just elevated Pakistan’s pride but also garnered admiration from neighboring countries.
Sonam Bajwa, a well-known Indian actress in the Punjabi film industry, honored the Pakistani athlete.
In a one-of-a-kind gesture, Bajwa responded on Nadeem’s Instagram post, thanking Allah, his nation, and his parents for their support and prayers.
She left a comment on Nadeem’s Instagram post, expressing gratitude to God, the country, and his parents for their encouragement and prayers.
In honor of Nadeem’s success, Bajwa expressed “Wadayan, Mubarakan” in Punjabi, which means ” Congratulations, Best wishes”. She further recognised Nadeem’s hard-earned victory, stating: “You deserved it.”
This gold medal marks a major milestone for Pakistan as it represents the nation’s inaugural individual medalist at the Olympics. Pakistan’s national hockey team last won a gold medal in 1984.
