Amir Khan, former world light-welterweight champion, suffers major loss in Pakistan

Amir Khan stood in the empty halls of his boxing academy in Islamabad, a sense of disappointment weighing heavily on him. The gym, once bustling with aspiring boxers and echoing with the sounds of training, now stood silent and deserted.

In a video statement shared online, Khan poured out his frustration. “Every time I visit Pakistan, there used to be an academy here,” he said, his voice tinged with sadness. “But now, I’m receiving messages from kids asking for training and boxing classes.”

The closure of the academy was a blow not just to Khan, but to the young athletes who had found hope and inspiration within its walls. Despite his efforts to engage with officials and the government, no action had been taken to address the situation. It seemed that boxing, a sport Khan had dedicated his life to, was being neglected in his homeland.

As he prepared to return to England the next day, Amir Khan couldn’t shake the feeling of disappointment. “It saddens me to see that the substantial investment of over a hundred thousand dollars in the gym has gone to waste,” he lamented.

But amid the disappointment, Khan remained determined. He vowed to continue his efforts to promote boxing in Pakistan, to fight for the recognition and support the sport deserved.

Despite the setback, his passion for boxing burned as brightly as ever, and he refused to let the closure of his academy be the end of his mission to uplift the sport in his homeland.
