Ambreen Jan, Grade-21, appointed new Federal Information Secretary

The federal government has appointed Ms. Ambreen Jan, a senior officer of the Information Group, Grade 21, as the Federal Secretary for Information and Broadcasting.

Ms. Ambreen Jan, Director General of the External Publicity Wing, will take charge of Ms. Shaheera Shahid, who had her last working day on Thursday as she had retired.

As per The News, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif interviewed several candidates for the position, with Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar in attendance, and selected Ms. Ambreen Jan for the role.

Tarar supported the idea that an officer from the Information Group (IG) should lead the ministry, sources noted.

Ambreen Jan is recognized for her hard work and is well-liked by ministry employees and officers alike.

The notification of the new appointment was issued yesterday. The new Secretary of Information is a senior Grade-21 officer and will serve as Secretary In-Charge for the time being.

It is expected that she will be promoted to Grade-22 at the upcoming High Powered Board (HPB) meeting next month, sources added.
