Akbar Khalid, a seasoned health professional with a remarkable 14-year track record in Pakistan, has joined the World Health Organization (WHO) Headquarters in Geneva as a Men’s Abdominal Obesity Counselor. With a deep commitment to promoting sustainable health practices, Khalid has dedicated his career to addressing abdominal obesity among men, impacting over 900 individuals who have reclaimed their health through his guidance.
Throughout his journey, Khalid has observed significant health challenges in his native Pakistan, particularly with middle-aged men who often face barriers to confronting obesity. In a society where obesity and related health issues are increasingly normalized, Khalid has found that many men remain resistant to change. This reluctance, he notes, is exacerbated by outdated fitness practices, including intense gym routines and extreme diets that offer only short-term results.
Khalid reflects on his past work with mixed emotions, noting that while he’s achieved great success in promoting health and wellness, many in his community still struggle to adopt sustainable changes. Nevertheless, he is optimistic as he transitions to his new role at WHO, where he plans to expand his impact on a global scale.
In a heartfelt statement, Khalid expressed gratitude for his experiences and acknowledged the challenges ahead in changing health mindsets globally. While his primary focus will shift to international cases, he remains committed to supporting Pakistani men in their journey toward better health.
“May we all have the courage to make the necessary changes before it’s too late,” Khalid shared in a closing note, highlighting his mission to inspire others to prioritize health and well-being.
Media Bites wishes Akbar Khalid good luck in all of his future endeavors.
