An altercation occurred between Indian cricket legends, Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli, after the IPL game between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants on Monday.
An eyewitness disclosed that Mayers asked Kohli why he was abusing them, and in turn, Kohli questioned why Mayers was staring at him. Mishra had also complained to the umpire about Kohli’s constant abuse towards Naveen (ul-Haq), a No. 10 batter.
Gambhir intervened to prevent things from escalating, but the heated exchange between the two former teammates ensued. Gambhir accused Kohli of abusing his player, which was like abusing his family. In turn, Kohli asked Gambhir to take care of his own family.
The altercation resulted in both players being fined their full match fees. Gambhir’s political secretary criticized Kohli’s behavior on Twitter, and the RCB social media team tried to justify Kohli’s aggression.
The altercation highlights the complicated relationship between the two players, who have been carrying their mutual dislike for each other for years. The incident was reminiscent of the 2013 altercation between the two when Kolkata Knight Riders were playing Royal Challengers Bangalore.
