WEBDESK — Students, parents and teachers across Punjab have reason to celebrate as the provincial education authorities have officially announced winter vacations for all schools in the province, bringing much-needed relief amid the cold season.
According to a notification issued by the Punjab Education Department, all government and private schools will observe winter holidays starting December 22, 2025. During this period, classrooms will remain closed to ensure the safety, health and comfort of students as temperatures continue to drop.
The winter break will continue until January 11, 2026. As January 11 falls on a Sunday, it will remain a regular weekly holiday. Schools across the province will reopen on Monday, January 12, with academic activities resuming as per schedule.
Education officials said the decision was taken after reviewing seasonal weather conditions and to maintain a uniform policy across Punjab, helping parents and schools avoid confusion regarding differing holiday dates.
School administrations have been directed to clearly communicate reopening dates to students and parents and to ensure a smooth transition back to classes after the holidays. Parents have also been encouraged to support children with light revision during the break so they can return refreshed and academically prepared.
The announcement has been widely welcomed, especially by mothers and young children, as the break offers time for rest, family bonding and protection from harsh winter conditions.
