ISLAMABAD- The special court, designated under the Official Secrets Act, has postponed the proceedings related to the cypher case involving the PTI Chairman and senior party leader and Vice Chairman, Shah Mahmood Qureshi. The court session, presided over by Judge Abul Hasnaat Zulqarnain at Adiala Jail, witnessed the presence of Qureshi, along with his legal representatives and family members.
During the hearing, FIA prosecutors Zulfiqar Naqvi, Shah Khawar, and Rizwan Abbasi presented their case, while PTI’s defense team, comprising Salman Safdar, Ali Gohar, and Umair Niazi, represented the party chairman Imran Khan. Taimur Malik and Faiza Shah appeared in the court on behalf of Shah Mahmood Qureshi Unfortunately, due to the absence of Qureshi’s defense counsels, the statements of prosecution witnesses could not be recorded. Consequently, the court decided to adjourn the hearing until November 14, summoning three additional witnesses for the next session.

Previously, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) had also deferred the bail application hearing for Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the cypher case. Chief Justice Aamir Farooq of the IHC presided over the hearing, which was adjourned due to the unavailability of FIA Prosecutor Shah Khawar. Despite a request from Qureshi’s counsel, Ali Bukhari, to reschedule the hearing, the judge declined and rescheduled the case for the following day.
