Former PM Nawaz Sharif made a triumphant return to Lahore’s iconic Minar-e-Pakistan monument after four years of self-imposed exile in London. PTI, PPP call PML-N supremo a ‘convict’ and ‘incompetent’, term Minar-e-Pakistan event ‘disappointing’
The PTI and PPP have criticized the PML-N’s rally at Lahore’s Minar-e-Pakistan, calling it a misuse of state resources to welcome a “fugitive criminal.” The PTI accused Nawaz Sharif of being “incompetent and convicted,” and they condemned the attempts to secure public support through inducements like motorbikes and promises of salvation. They raised concerns about the state’s role in facilitating his return despite his evasion of accountability.
The PPP also expressed disappointment in the event, stating that Nawaz Sharif presented his “resume” instead of a meaningful narrative during his speech. They questioned the credibility of the judiciary for taking fingerprints of Nawaz Sharif with protocol and held him responsible for the country’s “destruction.” They compared his rally unfavorably to Benazir Bhutto’s historic 2007 Karasaz public address and urged him to demand a date for elections.
